Sonoma County, California
Noted horticulturist Luther Burbank (1849-1926) once described Sonoma County, California as "The Chosen Spot as far as all of Nature was concerned". Located about 50 miles north of San Francisco, it certainly has its share of good climate and natural beauty. Residents (like myself) and visitors
alike enjoy the rugged bluffs and sweeping beachs along its coastline, its towering redwoods, pastoral dairyland, rolling vineyards, and of course, its world class wines!
The area is historically diverse too. The northernmost Spanish Mission was founded in the town of Sonoma while along its windswept coast lies Fort Ross - the southernmost outpost of the Russian fur trade (sea otter) during the mid 1800's.
